Everything In His Time
God makes everything beautiful in its time. The time is near and now to become who He made you to be as His Kingdom servant.
“Then Hannah prayed and said: “My heart rejoices in the Lord; in the Lord There is no one holy like the Lord; there is no one besides you; there is no Rock like our God. The Lord brings death and makes alive; he brings down to the grave and raises up. The Lord sends poverty and wealth; he humbles and he exalts. He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap; he seats them with princes and has them inherit a throne of honor. For the foundations of the earth are the Lord’s; on them he has set the world. I will raise up for myself a faithful priest, who will do according to what is in my heart and mind. I will firmly establish his priestly house, and they will minister before my anointed one always.
1 Samuel 2:1-2, 6-8 , 35
Wisdom tells us at the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge. One of the most important things you can do today is change your perspective. Consider stepping back so you can see what God is doing. See how He is working. See that all things are from Him and for Him. How could stepping back and focusing on God help shape your perspective today?
Is your heart full of joy or full of anguish? Do you feel alone or deeply connected? There are many seasons of life, but the truth tells us that this is the day that the Lord has made. Can you rejoice in it? Hannah had no idea how richly God would bless her obedience. She chose to be faithful. She honored God when she received her blessing and God blessed her abundantly by giving her more children. She sang of her own experience. She was barren and God made her family fruitful. God does not promise life will be easy, but He does promise whichever season you are in that we have hope that can carry us through each season.
“I am overwhelmed with troubles and my life draws near to death. my eyes are dim with grief. I call to you, Lord, every day; I spread out my hands to you. But I cry to you for help, Lord; in the morning my prayer comes before you. You have taken from me friend and neighbor— darkness is my closest friend.” Psalms 88:3, 9, 13, 18
Aseph was having a hard day, in fact, you might say he was in a hard season. His troubles overwhelmed him, and darkness feels like his closest friend. Have you ever had a season like that? Have you ever had a time where you felt overwhelmed? It’s a total contrast to Hannah who was rejoicing. We are all on different journeys and Jesus meets people where they are.
One of the things we can learn from this text is that even in the midst of the hardest times it is good to seek God. Aseph sought God in the morning and continues to pray through the season. He did not get stuck and stay where he has been. Rather he sought to draw near to God. How can lifting your eyes to God help keep you moving forward as you work through whatever season you are in?
The truth is God’s sovereignty does not eliminate seasons of sorrow. Faith is not pretending the darkness isn’t there. It is crying out honestly within it, trusting that the God who raises the lowly is still at work even when He feels silent. Following Jesus involves taking steps of faith and trusting that He will make a way through the darkness.
“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end. I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live. That each of them may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all their toil—this is the gift of God. I know that everything God does will endure forever; nothing can be added to it and nothing taken from it. God does it so that people will fear him. So I saw that there is nothing better for a person than to enjoy their work”
Ecclesiastes 3:1, 11-14, 22
It is no accident that all these texts aligned, nor is it an accident that you are getting this message today. God has a word for you and wants to change the way you are looking at your life. God wants to teach us that each day is a gift and to find ways to be grateful each day. Putting this day in the right perspective of how it fits within a season and from a broader perspective within your life story can help relieve the pressure of the day. God wants to life your eyes to see that He is always working, always moving, and each day is part of a broader story.
God reminds us that there is a time for everything under heaven, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to tear down and a time to build. Life is not random; it moves within God’s appointed seasons. What feels like chaos or delay is often a chapter, not the whole story. He is not done writing your story nor is He done with the story of salvation.
The invitation for today is to see if you can see the beauty of today and find meaning in the work of your hands. Wisdom tells us that it is best for us to be happy and do what is good or pleasing to God. We need to find out how we can participate and use our strengths to make a difference in the lives of others. God wants to help us learn what it means to live a life of meaning and understand that we have a part to play. Can you see the beauty in today?
“Then the angel who was speaking to me came forward and said to me, “Look up and see what is appearing.” Zechariah 5:5
One of the best things you can do is look up. Look up to God. Change your focus. Change your thinking. What have you been looking at and what have you been focusing on? What we think about will shape how we experience God. Jesus said change the way you think. Paul said do not conform to the patterns of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. It is good to start from a place where we need to change so that we will be more open to responding to God's leading.
When you look around, you might see a lot of people in pain or injustice in the world. God is still in control. God is not only ordering time. He is purifying it. Sin does not go unnoticed. Injustice is not ignored. God is actively working to cleanse what is broken, even if that work is unseen or unfolds over time.
“The revelation from Jesus Christ, Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near. and from Jesus Christ, To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood, and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father—to him be glory and power for ever and ever! Amen. “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.” When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said: “Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.”
Revelation 1:1, 3, 5-6, 8, 17-18
Jesus tells us what our role is. He says that we were kingdom priests and made to serve him. What priestly duties has he given you today to help minister to the world? John tells us that Jesus is the beginning and the end. John says that Jesus first loves us, frees us, and then sends us. Rather than asking why things happen to us, the better question is to ask Jesus how He wants to flow His love through us.
Jesus is revealed as the Alpha and the Omega. He is the beginning and the end. He stands among His people with authority, holiness, and unwavering presence. The same God who governs seasons, hears cries in the darkness, and judges wickedness is not distant. He is near, walking among the lampstands, seeing, knowing, and sustaining His people. The message is this, your life is held within God’s timing, your pain is seen even when it feels hidden, and your future is secured by the One who stands above all time and history.
So the call is both comforting and challenging. Trust Him in every season, not just the good ones. Cry out honestly when life feels like Psalm 88, but anchor your heart in the truth of 1 Samuel 2—that God reverses what seems final. Live wisely in the rhythms of Ecclesiastes 3, knowing your current moment is not your permanent reality. Walk in integrity, remembering Zechariah 5—that God is serious about removing sin and shaping a holy people. And fix your eyes on Jesus in Revelation 1, because when you see Him clearly, everything else your timing, your suffering, your hope finds its proper place.
God makes everything beautiful and it’s time and it starts with today. Ask the Lord how you can use the gifts that you have been given to bring glory to His name and you will find gladness in your heart.
