Let Go and Let God

Let Go and Let God

God calls you to do His will not focus on your qualifications or comfort.

“Now Moses was keeping the flock of Jethro, his father-in-law, the priest of Midian, and he led the flock to the back of the wilderness, and came to God’s mountain, to Horeb. Yahweh’s angel appeared to him in a flame of fire out of the middle of a bush. He looked, and behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed. When Yahweh saw that he came over to see, God called to him out of the middle of the bush, and said, “Moses! Moses!” He said, “Here I am ...Moses hid his face because he was afraid to look at God. Yahweh said, “I have surely seen the affliction of my people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows. I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land to a good and large land, to a land flowing with milk and honey...I will send you to Pharaoh, that you may bring my people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.” Moses said to God, “Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?” He said, “Certainly I will be with you...I know that the king of Egypt won’t give you permission to go, no, not by a mighty hand."

Exodus 3:1-2, 4-8, 10-12, 18-22

Do you think Moses thought he was hallucinating when he saw a bush burning and heard a voice calling his name? When he realized it was God, he was afraid to look up. What was Moses response? He questions if he is the right person, if he has the ability, and how he could possibly to what God is saying.

Is Moses that different from us? The Bible says that one day every knee will bow and tongue confess Jesus is Lord. The Bible says you are gifted and made by God to bring the kingdom. Do you believe these statements? Is it not hard when looking around at where you are to think that God's purposes and promises are possible?

“God looks down from heaven on the children of men, to see if there are any who understood, who seek after God...When God brings back his people from captivity, then Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.”

Psalms 53:2, 6

David praises in absolutes. He says when God brings his people not if God will bring his people. As humans, we have a tendency to question everything. This can be beneficial and harmful to us as we walk out a life of faith where we do not have all the answers. Truth says that God is looking for people who are seeking Him and open to responding more than He is looking for qualified Christians. Are you open to be using by God regardless of the circumstance or cost of the calling?

“turn your ear to wisdom, and apply your heart to understanding; if you seek her as silver, and search for her as for hidden treasures; then you will understand the fear of Yahweh, and find the knowledge of God...For Yahweh gives wisdom. Out of his mouth comes knowledge and understanding...For wisdom will enter into your heart. Knowledge will be pleasant to your soul.”

Proverbs 2:2, 4-6, 9-10

Wisdom call us to be intentional. To desire or seek God above all else. Jesus said seek first the kingdom of God. When you do you will quiet the noise of culture and start to hear the whisper of Christ. Jesus will speak, guide, and empower you one step at a time towards the paths of righteousness.

“He was despised and rejected by men, a man of suffering...Surely he has borne our sickness and carried our suffering...he was pierced for our transgressions. He was crushed for our iniquities. The punishment that brought our peace was on him; and by his wounds we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray. Everyone has turned to his own way; and Yahweh has laid on him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed, yet when he was afflicted he didn’t open his mouth. As a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and as a sheep that before its shearers is silent, so he didn’t open his mouth...My righteous servant will justify many by the knowledge of himself; and he will bear their iniquities...he bore the sins of many and made intercession for the transgressors.”

Isaiah 53:2-7, 11-12

Everything in the Bible points to Jesus. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. He died that we could become who we are made to be. We are called and qualified by Jesus Christ. He took on everything that could separate us from our calling and gave us the gift of the Holy Spirit to walk in our freedom. Have you given thanks to Him today? Have you praised His Holy Name for all He has done that we might be able to do His will?

“He sent them out to preach God’s Kingdom and to heal the sick. They departed and went throughout the villages, preaching the Good News and healing everywhere...He welcomed them, spoke to them of God’s Kingdom, and he cured those who needed healing...he said to them, “You give them something to eat.” They said, “We have no more than five loaves and two fish, unless we should go and buy food for all these people.” For they were about five thousand men. He said to his disciples, “Make them sit down in groups of about fifty each.” They did so, and made them all sit down. He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to the sky, he blessed them, broke them, and gave them to the disciples to set before the multitude. They ate and were all filled. They gathered up twelve baskets of broken pieces that were left over. As he was praying alone, the disciples were near him, and he asked them, “Who do the multitudes say that I am...He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter answered, “The Christ of God.” He said to all, “If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever will lose his life for my sake will save it. For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses or forfeits his own self?"

Luke 9:2, 6, 11-18, 20, 23-25, 34-35, 37, 43-44, 56-62

Jesus came to call and equip His people to do His will. What is His will? To bring every heart back to God. He tells them to share the good news that they can have peace with God and the kingdom has come here and now. How does Jesus show us we can become His people?

By letting go of everything we have ever thought about who we are and what is possible. We start by losing and in doing so gain the best of what God has to offer. Less of me, more of Jesus. Less pride, more of Jesus power and presence. Less focus on possessions, more focus on intimacy with Him and purpose in my life. Like Moses, we are called and God does the heavy lifting. The questi0n we have to ask is if we are willing to let go and then let God do the miraculous in and through us.
